Course Description:


This one-hour presentation will help participants to increase their understanding of the life-long issues due to a brain injury and to be able to identify appropriate resources along the road to recovery.  Various funding opportunities for persons with brain injuries such as the state waiver and vocational programs, HIP, Independence, and OVR will be discussed.


Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of this presentation the learners should be able to:

  1. Discuss the implications of TBI as a life-long condition

  2. Describe funding opportunities for persons with brain injuries including the state waiver and vocational programs;  HIP, Independence, OVR.  Describe the changes over the years and more changes to come.

  3. Identify important factors for service utilization to maximize use of benefits.

These presentation were presented by GPC chapter members at the 2017 REACH Conference in Seattle, Washington.

You will receive 1 CE for these presentations.

2017 Brain Injury Awareness Day in Washington

The Government Relation committee of GPC ARN is looking for members of GPC chapter who are interested in participating in the 2017 Brain Injury Awareness. Day as part of our advocacy role as rehab nurses.

The Government Relations Committee of the Greater Philadelphia chapter of ARN is going to Washington to advocate for Brain Injury Awareness. One of our roles as rehabilitation nurses is advocacy for the disabled. The major focus of advocacy for the GPC chapter of ARN is Brain Injury Services. We are going to Washington DC for Brain Injury Awareness. Day on Wednesday, March22, 2017. The Brain Injury Awareness event is hosted by the Congressional Brain Injury Task Force. While we are in Washington we scheduled meetings with 4 Pennsylvania Congressmen to have discuss key healthcare policy issues and advocacy.
